2011 FESTIVAL THEME
HOMETOWN AMERICA
"Keytesville Salutes Our Heroes of the Armed Forces & 9 11"
“THE GREAT OUTDOORS”
Our federal, state and local parks, rivers, streams, forests, farms, landscapes, cultural sites, lakes, and wildlife conservation areas are all part of the “Great Outdoors” in Mid Missouri. They are places that are a part of our heritage that has influenced our lives and our perspectives of our communities in which we take pride.
The “Great Outdoors” provides a forum that allows us to get away from those daily demands on our lives, to brighten our fondest memories, to give us renewed energy, whether we are hunting with friends or family members, fishing with grandchildren, watching our children swing at that first baseball, or enjoying a family picnic in a community park.
In the spirit of this theme, the Festival will honor Joel Vance, who was the leading writer for the Missouri Department of Conservation and wrote hundreds of articles for its magazine, the Missouri Conservationist. and has written seven books on nature and the outdoors. His writing is funny and humorous and will get you laughing but he is even better at communicating the importance and need for conservation of natural resources.
